Eligible applicants include currently enrolled (undergraduate, master's or doctoral) students of all ages, and researchers who do not hold a PhD at the time of application, and who are 30 years old or younger at the end of 2010.

From 145 applicants, 47 finalists have been selected based on the review results of their abstracts and self-recommendations. All the finalists are asked to deliver a 3-minute oral presentation in the lunchtime preview session on Tuesday 6th July, and to attend the closing ceremony on Friday 9th, where the winners will receive a certificate and prize.

Details for application

Participating young researchers who wish to apply are required to submit a self-recommendation (less than 200 words) along with their abstract through the Abstract Submission Form of this website. Submitted materials will be reviewed by the Award Subcommittee and finalists will be selected. At ICSM 2010, a finalist session will be held, at which each finalist will be asked to give a three-minute preview of their poster presentation with no discussion time. A panel of judges will evaluate all finalists for the award based on 1) the quality of their presentation, 2) their three-minute preview and 3) submitted materials. The awardees will be announced at the closing ceremony on July 9.

The deadline for applications is February 8, 2010, which is also the abstract deadline.

Those who choose "Either (oral or poster)" as a presentation style on the Abstract Submission Form can also apply for award consideration. However, if the paper is accepted as an "oral “presentation, the award application will be withdrawn automatically.
